As well as boasting a wealth of magnificent landscapes, Argentan also has many interesting monuments such as the St Nicolas chapel, the castle of Ducs and the 12th century Marguerite Tower (once part of the town fortifications). Both traditional and modern, the markets offer a convenient and lively way of shopping. Every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday morning there is a street market with local products including a famous cheese and in July there is also the possibility to shop by night. The most popular sports activities in this area are fishing, horse riding, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, cycling, rafting and golfing. The town also offers a large range of cultural events and festivals. Located only 50 minutes from ferries in Caen, but also not too far from ferries in Cherbourg and Le Havre.
